The period when soil moisture is highest and rainfall is present, is also the period (May to Oct) when the whole basin experiences mid to high estimates of evaporation. From Nov. to Feb. the most northern section has much lower evaporation, due to lower temperatures and less soil moisture. A transition period is seen in March to April with northern sections experiencing increases in evaporation estimates, linked to increases in temperatures.
