Congo River Basin Freshwater in Average Year

The entire Congo basin receives high levels of rain fall due to it experiencing a humid equatorial climate. Consequently river flow is relatively constant in both wet and dry seasons. Only during the period June to September does runoff drop off in the southern part of the basin as rainfall shifts to the northern section of the basin. The Congo differs to other large African rivers (such as Niger and Nile) in that it does not form a delta but enters the Atlantic Ocean directly.
