Annually the Huang-He has low runoff estimates, primarily because the basin receives low levels of rainfall. To the north the basin is bordered by the Gobi desert. April is the moth experiencing the highest runoff in general, though July to Sept the western edges have increased runoff from precipitation and snow melt. From Oct onwards a general decline in runoff is estimated.
